Spring Glen Community

Located on twelve acres and adjacent to Duke Forest, RSI's Spring Glen Community is a retirement community of the highest quality focused on persons with developmental disabilities. There is a tremendous need for this type of program, as there is currently no other facility available to meet this need. Spring Glen is the first of its kind and is a model facility for seniors with developmental disabilities throughout North Carolina.

Description of Facility

Spring Glen provides a variety of living situations and services on one site. It includes 15 units which include ICF-MR services, Supported Living services, and two 2-bedroom apartments for Independent Living services. A number of shared facilities are utilized, including laundry, dining, office, and therapy space. Many of the bedrooms contain bathrooms and kitchenettes, which provide more independence for those who want it. Our model focuses on social interaction and fosters group activities that include a variety of people receiving various levels of services. Leisure and social groups are based on interest rather than on disability. In contrast to the current models available, this model allows a wide range of friendships and activities.
